Xander being in love with Anya will always be a fan's subjective thinking (I believe he did, though, episodes like Real Me, Family, Into the Woods, Hells Bells -ironically- Selfless, and really many more showed me that he did) but it's obvious he didn't like some of her characteristics, which makes people believe he didn't love her. Xander and the others -except Willow- don't seem to consider Anya dangerous because she clearly loves Xander and because of that she'd do anything to make him happy and in return Xander cares deeply about her and shows his friends that, while with Spike it was different. His attitude is not that likeable, he tries to keep his evil image, he rarely shows his soft side and Buffy doesn't like him. Lucky Anya, but sucks for Spike.
