Excellently written essay. There are parts where our opinions differ (mostly on Anya's motives and Willow's reasonings), but I truly see your view of your side.
Funnily enough, later when Spike asks for forgiveness, Giles and Willow turn their eyes to Xander as if asking his permission to forgive Spike. Xander shrugs and lets him be.
I love that you pointed out that moment. Of course, I'm a Xander/Spike 'shipper so I may be biased.
